Rods are usually straight when at rest and are able to bend or curve when pressure is applied to the tip. The rod type is usually identified on it and is based on how the rod resists bending under pressure.
There are four different types of rod action:
• Extra Fast the rod usually starts to bend in the upper 1/4
• Fast the rod starts to bend in the upper 1/3
• Moderate the rod bends in the middle
• Slow the rod bends progressively from tip to butt.
